In many towns of the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees you will find architectural remains dating from the tenth to thirteenth centuries. Emphasis on the great monasteries, both for their size and for historical value, such as Sant Pere de Rodes, Sant Quirze of Cholera, Santa Maria de Vilabertran, San Joan de Abadesas or Santa Maria de Ripoll.
The Ampurdan painter Salvador Dalí left a huge impression in the area. The main legacy of the painter focuses on “Dalí Triangle”. The Theatre Museum in Figueres is home to a large collection of his surrealist works, in addition to the collection of Dali-Jewels. At “Casa Museo Salvador Dalí” in Portlligat (Cadaqués), you will find the workshop that was his home, with furniture and personal belongings of the artist. The third place is the museum “Casa Museu Castell Gala Dali” in Púbol, beside the town of La Pera, which Dalí gave to his muse and where she is buried.
